Peace and humility filled the air at a simple majlis berbuka puasa organized by Lumut Power Plant at Swiss Garden Golf Resort & Spa, Damai Laut, Perak, recently.
True to the spirit of Ramadan, Lumut Power Plant continues its tradition of remembering the less fortunate during this holy month. 43 orphans, age 10 to 17, were the special guests at this year’s function. They are occupants of Pusat Jagaan Pertubuhan Kebajikan Anak-Anak Yatim & Warga Miskin Parit, Perak, where they are given food and shelter, a place they can call ‘home’.
The orphans were presented with money packets each by Lumut Power Plant Station Manager, En Abdul Rahman Hussin. They were also treated to local delicacies prepared by the resort, together with 350 Lumut Power Plant staff and families. The small token from us and the delicious spread for berbuka puasa are little things that we take for granted but it meant a lot to them. This contribution signifies that despite their misfortunes, there are people who care about them in their difficult time.
It was satisfying to be able to bring smiles to their faces in this blessed month of Ramadan. Besides doing this small bit for the less fortunate, it was also a good opportunity to reconnect with folks in the surrounding community and local authorities in a relaxed environment and enjoy the cozy ambience and delicious food, as part of our engagement initiatives with stakeholders.
