Lumut Power Plant (“LPP”) held its annual Health, Safety, Security, and Environment (“HSSE”) Week from 16 to 19 October 2023. The event aimed to promote good safety practices and encourage a healthy lifestyle among LPP and in-house contract staff.

In conjunction with the LPP HSSE Week, various activities were organised for the staff to interact with one another in a more casual setting. On 16 October, a Beach Clean-Up activity was organised at the beach area in front of LPP, where a total of 730 kg of waste was collected by 100 participants. LPP Beach Run – a 4km fun run was then held on 18 October 2023 and garnered 90 participants from LPP and its in-house contract staff, as well as staff from Tanjung Bin Energy (“TBE”) and Tanjung Bin Power Plant (“TBPP”).

During LPP's HSSE Week, there were five safety discussion forums held on 17 and 18 October 2023, each concluding with a lucky draw session. The invited speakers were; SOCSO Sitiawan Return to Work (“RTW”) Unit Case Manager Puan Nurul Aishah Hasan, Pantai Hospital Manjung’s Dr. Muhammad Hamdi Haji Suki (on “Stress and Anxiety”), Malaysia Civil Defense Department’s representative SM Loqman Nul Hakim, the Religion and Counselling Department of Kuala Kangsar District Police Headquarters’s representative Ustaz Khairul Fahmi Haji Daud (on “Tenang Diri, Kawal Emosi Melalui Rohani”), and Spring Energy’s representative Encik Jeiprakasam A/L Anthony Samy (on “Workplace Accidents and Occupational Illnesses”).

Additionally, an Emergency Response Team (“ERT”) competition was also held to improve ERT efficiency among staff and to strengthen their teamwork.

After four days of educational and motivational activities, the LPP HSSE week finally concluded with a closing ceremony that was officiated by Perak Department of Occupational Safety and Health (“DOSH”) Director Dr. Rabaayah Daud and attended by LPP Manager Manager Encik Anwar Faisal Mohamed Din, Malakoff’s Chief Operating Officer Mr. Clive Anthony Smith, Local Generation Division’s Senior Vice President Encik Mohammed Azmil Ismail, Group HSSE’s Head Dr. Ramizu Abdul Rahim and the local authorities. The event then proceeded with a prize-giving ceremony to all winners.

LPP HSSE Week was organised as part of Malakoff’s initiatives to promote a safer and healthier lifestyle. It is also in line with UN Sustainable Development Goal No.3 which aims to ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all ages.
