Sharing important news and updates for you and the community
On 14 June 2024, Malakoff Corporation Berhad (“Malakoff”) handed over seven (7) cows for the Aidil Adha celebrations to the local communities in Mukim Serkat, Johor, Segari in Perak and Prai, Penang. The contributions worth RM42,000.00 marks Malakoff’s commitment as a responsible corporate citizen to support the communities surrounding its operational areas, highlighting the company’s social responsibility.
Both Plant Managers from Tanjung Bin Power Plant (“TBPP”), Encik Mohammad Amiruddin Kamaluddin and Lumut Power Plant (“LPP”), Tuan Haji Anwar Faisal Mohammed Din, officiated the ceremonial handover of the sacrificial cows as part of the Hari Raya Aidiladha customary celebration.
Subsequent to the ritual, the meat was distributed in packets to benefit the less fortunate residents in the surrounding areas. This act not only upholds religious traditions but also fosters the ‘silaturrahim’ among local communities, exemplifying the values of compassion during this festive season. Besides enhancing relationships with the local communities, it is hoped that CSR initiatives like these will further cultivate the spirit of ‘giving back to the community’ while fostering a stronger bond between one another.
This initiative is part of Malakoff’s Corporate Social Responsibility (“CSR”) undertakings, focusing on the Community pillar. It demonstrates Malakoff’s continuous commitment to supporting community development in areas where its plants operate. It is also in line with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal (“UN SDG”) No.11, which contributes to the objective of making cities and human settlements inclusive, safe, resilient, and sustainable. It is aligned with Malakoff’s overarching purpose of ‘Enhancing Life, Enriching Communities’.
