Employer of Choice Rewards 52 Employees with Long Service Award
Keeping up with its pledge to be the employer of choice, Malakoff Corporation Berhad recently treated 400 of its employees and their family members to its annual Employee Appreciation Retreat at Putrajaya, in recognition of their commitment as well as devotion.
During the two-day event, Malakoff also recognized and celebrated 52 employees who were marking their 10th and 15th year of their career at the Company with the Long Service Award. They were each rewarded with cash incentives and certificates as token of appreciation.
Speaking at the event to present the awards, Zainal Abidin Jalil, the Chief Executive Officer of Malakoff said, “Malakoff’s strength lies in its people and we are truly appreciative of their hard work and devotion. Our employees’ commitment in powering Malakoff’s growth to be Malaysia’s leading Multinational Power and Water Company is immeasurable.”
“The annual Employee Appreciation Retreat is a small token of appreciation to commemorate our staff’s long-term contributions while reinforcing a positive workplace at the Company. I am pleased that our engagement efforts have been successful in retaining our talents as testified by our low annual attrition rate of 3%,” he added.
As part of the carnival-like fun-filled family event, employees from Malakoff’s sites located in Seberang Prai, Lumut and Tanjung Bin as well as from the Kuala Lumpur headquarters went head to head against each other competing in 16 outdoor and indoor sports, including football, netball as well as golf. In the spirit of camaraderie and sportsmanship, fellow colleagues and family members gave a raucous cheer to the Lumut team who unseated defending champions from Kuala Lumpur to clinch the championship trophy.
Recognising that the welfare of employees’ families is also an important contributor to workplace productivity, Malakoff has also ensured that the achievements of top scoring children of employees were celebrated as well. At the event, the Company presented the Excellence Awards to 34 children of staff who shone in the national examinations namely, UPSR, PMR and SPM, in the previous year. Each of them received cash incentive of RM500 to promote academic achievements.
Muzafar bin Hussain, currently the Manager, who has been with the Company since 1997 said, “I first started my career at Malakoff as an Executive 16 years ago. I am very grateful to be provided with ample opportunities to develop and grow my career at Malakoff. It is also a privilege to be part of Malakoff’s success journey; seeing how the Company has flourished in the past decade.”
Similar sentiments were also shared by Shazrina binti Shamsul Ariffin, who has served Malakoff for 11 years. Commenting on the highlights of her career, she said, “Undeniably, the best part of my job is the inspiring people I work with. We are like one big family. The support I received from my colleagues and the challenges we experience together have made this a very stimulating and rewarding job.”
