In the spirit of the Aidil Adha celebration, Malakoff Corporation Berhad (Malakoff) donated 4 cows to the Segari, Perak and Mukim Serkat, Johor communities.
Hari Raya Aidil Adha is known for its sacrificial slaughter of animals or ‘korban’ in honour of the willingness of Prophet Ibrahim to sacrifice his son as an act of obedience to Allah’s command.
The Aidil Adha celebration on 11 August 2019 started with the congregation performing Solat Sunat Aidil Adha at Malakoff-sponsored Masjid Khairul Jariah, Kampung Segari and Masjid Al-Amin, Kampung Sungai Dinar, Mukim Serkat, followed by the korban. Then, the local congregation worked in groups in the spirit of gotong royong, helped to divide the meat in bags and distributed them to the needy in their respective areas.
Prior to this, representatives from Malakoff handed over the livestock to the respective masjids in preparation of the korban. Plant Manager of Lumut Power Plant, En Mohd Salehuddin Abu Bakar and Tanjung Bin Energy Power Plant representative, Head of Maintenance, En Mustpha Kamal Zainal handed over the cows in simple ceremonies held in their respective local communities.
Kampung Mukim Serkat’s Ketua Kampung, Tuan Abdul Hamid Ahmad, thanked Malakoff for the contribution.
“We are grateful for this contribution that encourages us to gather and strengthen the ‘silaturrahim’ within the community and also with Malakoff.”
