Sharing important news and updates for you and the community
In commemoration of the sacrifices made by Prophet Ibrahim who was tested by Allah to demonstrate his immense faith, Muslims around the world regard Hari Raya Aidiladha as one of the most important celebrations in the Hijri calendar.
It is also a time to strengthen the bond or ‘silaturrahim’ among members of the community through the act of giving.
In conjunction with the Aidiladha celebration that fell on 31 July this year, Malakoff Corporation Berhad (Malakoff) had donated 2 cows to each of the communities surrounding its 3 operations.
Prior to the Aidiladha celebration, the livestock were handed over by the respective Plant Managers to the local community mosques. In Perak, Lumut Power Plant’s Plant Manager, En. Lan Sulkaimy Mohd Yusof handed over the livestock to Masjid Khairul Jariah Kq Segari’s Deputy Chairman, En. Zailani Zenon; in Penang, Prai Power Plant’s Head of Maintenance, Tuan Hj Jauhar Mohamed handed over to the Chairman of Masjid Padang Lallang, Prai, Tuan Hj Muhammad Zakri Hj Ismail; whilst in Johor, Tanjung Bin Power Plant’s Plant Manager, En. Mohd Kopli Yunus handed over to Ketua Kampung Kawasan (1) Mukim Serkat, En. Ab. Hamid Ahmad.
In compliance with the current Standard Operating Procedures imposed by the Government, only 20 people were allowed to manage the slaughtering of each cow and the distribution of the meat to the needy in their respective areas.
En. Ab. Hamid acknowledged Malakoff’s contribution to the communities for the Aidiladha celebration.
“Due to the ongoing pandemic, times have been hard for most of the congregation. Therefore, we are grateful that Malakoff made a conscious effort to show that it cares about the well-being of our community,” he said.
