Malakoff Hands Over Masjid Al-Amin to Community in Mukim Serkat

2016 started with a blessing for Malakoff Corporation Berhad (Malakoff), a member of the MMC Group, and the local community in Mukim Serkat with the official hand over of the newly completed mosque sponsored by Malakoff, Masjid Al-Amin Sungai Dinar on 15 January 2016 to the community of Kampung Sungai Dinar, Mukim Serkat, Pontian. The mosque is a part of Malakoff’s corporate social responsibility (CSR) commitment to the community where it operates.



The Kadi of Pontian, Assyeikh Tn Hj Taufik Bin Dato’ Kiyai Hj Shamsuddin, who represented Majlis Agama Islam Johor (MAIJ), accepted the mock board from Malakoff representative, T4 Plant Manager, En. Abdul Halim Adnan to symbolize the hand over of the mosque from Malakoff to MAIJ. The Kadi then handed over the mock board to the Chairman of Masjid Al Amin, Tn Hj Abd Hafidz bin Hj A Rahman, to symbolize the official hand over of the responsibility to manage the mosque from MAIJ to the mosque’s committee.


Subsequently, Tn Hj Taufik read the watiqah from Mufti Johor to declare that the Friday prayers will officially be held at the mosque from then on. The Imam of Masjid Besar Pontian led the congregation for the first Friday prayer at the mosque on this historic date.


Malakoff contributed RM2.4 million towards the construction of the mosque located near Malakoff-owned Tanjung Bin Power Plant that can accommodate 500 congregations at one time. The new mosque provides a more confortable and condusive environment for the local community to perform their prayers and other religious activities.



Chairman of the Development and Security of Kawasan 1 (JKKK), En. Abdul Samir bin Mahadi expressed his gratitude towards Malakoff’s commitment and support for the Mukim Serkat community. “We would like to thank Malakoff and everyone involved in the process of constructing this beautiful mosque. Rest assured that we will put the mosque to good use and the new facilities will certainly make it easier for us to carry out our programmes and activities,” said Abdul Samir.


During the event, Malakoff also handed over Wakalah Zakat contribution of RM142,950 for Masjid Al-Amin Sungai Dinar. The contribution would be used by the committee for the upkeep of the mosque.
