Malakoff Corporation Berhad (“Malakoff”) had successfully launched ‘HR2U Day’, which is an employee-engagement initiative inaugurated by the People Division on 13 September 2022 at Malakoff Academy of Excellence (“MAX”) in Plaza Sentral. The launch was officiated by Malakoff’s Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer (“MD/CEO”) Encik Anwar Syahrin Abdul Ajib and attended by the Head of People Division Encik Raja Iskandar Raja Mukhtaruddin, members of the Management, as well as Malakoff HQ employees.

With the theme ‘Stronger Together’, this roadshow-like initiative that aims to provide an additional platform for communication between People Division and employees, commenced with Tanjung Bin Power Plant (“TBPP”) on 4 August 2022, followed by Lumut Power Plant (“LPP”) on 8 August 2022 and Prai Power Plant (“Prai”) on 9 August 2022 before its finale at Malakoff HQ. This initiative is also aligned with the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goal No. 8 which promotes sustained, inclusive & sustainable economic growth, full and productive employment as well as decent work for all.

Upon arrival, employees were greeted with a goodie bag where they could also participate in a lucky draw. Various vendors were invited to not only provide employees with free consultation (medical, dental, optical and physical), but to also provide on-the-spot examinations which gave an opportunity for employees to gauge on their current health condition that can consequently lead to better understanding of healthy living and treatment. A free Infuenza vaccination shot was also provided on the day of the event across all sites. Additionally, representatives from FWD Takaful, AIA Insurance and Public Mutual Bank were present for employees who would like to seek for advice or enquire about investment.

A motivational talk entitled, ‘The Meaning and Value of Work’, by guest speaker Encik Rayyan Irwan from TH Holdings was very insightful as it dived deep into individual’s definition of happiness and how it correlates directly with how we conduct ourselves at work. There was also an educational talk on how to efficiently fill up our annual income tax form by Lembaga Hasil Dalam Negeri (“LHDN”) held in all plant sites, but the highlight of this initiative was the presentation on People’s Transformation Agenda and Pulse Survey Results by Encik Raja Iskandar where a roadmap of employee welfare was shared, followed by a dialogue between Encik Raja Iskandar and employees where concerns and issues were raised and addressed.

During his speech at the launch, Encik Anwar Syahrin stressed the importance of two-way communication between employees and their superior to ensure both expectations are met which would result in better performance output for the organisation.

“It is important for us to look forward to coming to work as it occupies most of our daily lives. I believe in #TeamMalakoff and I want us to create a safe, happy and conducive working environment. Collectively, we must always work as a team to ensure our goals and targets are aligned because only then we will be able to produce quality results that can take Malakoff to a much greater heights”.
