On 7 June 2024, Malakoff Corporation Berhad (“Malakoff”) attended the prestigious ‘Malam Wartawan Malaysia 2024’ (“MWM”) organised by the Malaysian Press Institute (“MPI”), which took place at Majestic Hotel, Kuala Lumpur. Malakoff demonstrated its commitment to supporting the media industry by playing a significant role in the event's success as one of its esteemed sponsors. As part of this sponsorship, Malakoff contributed RM 7,500, underscoring its dedication to fostering excellence in journalism and celebrating the achievements of media professionals.

The award was officiated by Yang Amat Berhormat (“YAB”) Prime Minister Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim and the Minister of Communications YB Fahmi Fadzil. More than 900 guests, primarily media practitioners and corporate partners, attended to enliven MWM this year.

This year, the MWM honoured the achievements of 118 journalists across 22 distinct categories, which include ‘Best Photo Essay’, ‘Best Column Writing’, ‘Best Article Writing’ and many others. The spotlight of the award was on the ‘Tokoh Wartawan Negara,’ won by the 88-year-old veteran journalist Adibah Amin and the ‘Kajai Award’, won by MalaysiaKini. Both winners took home RM 30,000 cash prize, along with trophies and certificates. Aimed at recognising and celebrating the best works of journalism contested in the past year, the award recognition serves as a testament to the vital role that journalists play in society.
