On 1 June 2024, Malakoff Corporation Berhad (“Malakoff”) hosted its annual “Malakoff Friendly Media Bowling” event, a special gathering aimed at fostering stronger ties with its esteemed media partners. Held at Sunway Mega Lanes in Sunway Pyramid,the event brought together 40 participants from prominent media organisations including BERNAMA, New Straits Times, Berita Harian, Harian Metro and Sinar Harian, for a friendly competition, simultaneously providing them a platform to showcase their individual bowling skills and teamwork.
The event was graced by BERNAMA’s Editor-in-Chief Mr. Arul Rajoo, New Straits Times’ Associate Editors Encik Najmuddin Najib and Encik Izwan Ismail, alongside Harian Metro’s Senior News Editor Encik Abdul Manan A. Samad. All 40 participants gathered eagerly at the bowling arena, mingling amidst a lively and enthusiastic atmosphere before the tournament began. Using the 2-round format, participants closely monitored each other's scores and strategies throughout both rounds, demonstrating their dedication and competitiveness to win.
After a gruelling 2-hour session which saw all teams gunning for a podium finish, the event proceeded with the prize-giving ceremony presented by Malakoff’s Senior Manager of Group Communications and Branding Encik Azman Shawal, who commended the participants’ outstanding performance, followed with a photo session. The top individual performer who clinched first place was Encik Zaharin Mat Noor from BERNAMA Encik Asrizal Aris from Harian Metro in second place and Encik Mohd Jamilul Anbia also from Harian Metro, securing the third place.
This initiative is a gesture of Malakoff’s appreciation for the steadfast support and positive media coverage over the years. This friendly bowling gathering provided a unique chance to enhance Malakoff’s relationship with the media in a relaxed setting, reaffirming our dedication to collaboration and mutual respect. It is in line with UN Sustainable Development Goal (“UN SDG”) No. 17, which encourages stronger partnerships to support sustainable development and environmental protection. It also aligned with Malakoff’s overarching purpose of ‘Enhancing Life Enriching Communities’.
