Sharing important news and updates for you and the community
This year, 1,000 cyclists are expected to participate in the 2-day event, on 31 Dec 2011 and 1 Jan 2012, covering 250km of Penang, Perak and Kedah.
The route will take the cyclists around Penang Island on Day 1, from Youth Park, climbing the favourite stretch of Jalan Tun Saadon, and back to Youth Park.
For Day 2, the route takes the cyclists from Youth Park, crossing Penang Bridge, to the mainland to cover parts of Penang, Perak and Kedah. Crossing the Penang Bridge is the highlight of the ride, as it is the one and only time that Lembaga Lebuhraya Malaysia allows cyclists to cross the bridge. The cyclists will be taken back to Penang Island from the mainland by ferry, where they can enjoy the fantastic view of the sea during the 15-minute ride. Then, it’s another 10km ride back to Youth Park for refreshment and lucky draw.
Each cyclist will get a limited edition Malakoff Interstate Fellowship Ride 2011 cycling jersey that is to be worn on Day 2 of the ride.
The earnest fee collected from cyclists (RM50,000) will be given to a charity organization at the end of Day 2.
Malakoff Interstate Fellowship Ride is a part of our Commitment to Community Sports under our CSR platform, the Malakoff Community Partnerships, that celebrates the achievement of Malakoff’s long-term and continuous commitment to being a responsible and active participant of the communities in which it operates.
So, act now to be a part of the last ride and the first ride of the year!
