On 11 August 2017, Malakoff Corporation Berhad (“Malakoff”) organized a friendly futsal tournament with New Straits Times Press (M) Berhad (“NSTP”) Editorial teams, held at NSTP futsal court, Bangsar. The participating teams from media consisted of New Straits Times (“NST”), Berita Harian (“BH”) and Harian Metro (“HM”).
Players and supporters gathered as early as 8.00pm to get ready for the game. A total of 32 players comprising of 4 teams with each team fielding 8 players were all warmed-up to show their skills in the round-robin matches.
The games kicked off after a short briefing from the referee on the rules and regulation during the matches. The players were motivated to win and showed great teamwork to score goals and collect points from each game. The team with the highest point was named champion of the day.
Malakoff and HM were proved to be equally strong and very close in points from each match. After 3 matches, Malakoff was named futsal champion with a close gap in goal difference with HM in second place, followed by BH and NST. Prizes to all winners were presented by En. Zuraimi Abdullah, News Editor Business Times.
En. Pizan Mustapa, a representative-cum-liaison from NST for this tournament thanked Malakoff for inviting them. “We could see that all players are having fun and supporting each other throughout the tournament. This proved that sports strengthens relationship between players and we would like to thank Malakoff for organizing the tournament,” he added.
