On 30th July 2022, Malakoff Corporation Berhad (“Malakoff”) held a friendly bowling tournament with the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources (“KeTSA”) at the KLGCC Bowling Alley, Kuala Lumpur as part of its continuous engagement and relationship building with key stakeholders. The highly anticipated event saw encouraging participation from both organisations as this was the first bowling tournament to be organised since the start of the pandemic.
KeTSA’s Under Secretary (Regulatory and Industrial Development Division), Dr. Mohamad Hamzi bin Abdul Aziz, was given the honour of making the first throw to officially mark the start of the tournament. The format comprised Male and Female categories for the Individual division and the overall Group category.

As the first round commenced, enthused bowlers were seen gauging on their respective team members’ strength and skills to strategise their way into winning as a means for preparation before going into the second round. When the “warm-up” round ended, all bowlers were evidently showcasing their competitive side where encouraging cheers were heard and cues on performing a strike were shared between team members.
Ultimately, Suryana binti Bakar for KeTSA emerged as the Champion for the Female Individual category whereas Mohd Arrif Fadhillah bin Zainal Abiden from KeTSA took first place for the Male Individual category. For the Group category, Lane 1 consisting of Ahmad Lutfi bin Mohayiddin, Mohammad Helmi bin Omar and Suryana binti Bakar from KeTSA, and Norazam bin Mohd Amin and Mohd Hanif Ab Hamid from Malakoff were declared champions with a total of 1022 points.

The bowlers and the rest of the attendees then adjourned for a lunch, followed by the prize-giving ceremony. Malakoff’s Head of Investor Relations and Corporate Communications, Mr. Saravanan Desigamanie handed over the prizes to the individual winners while Encik Shajaratuddur Ibrahim, Head of Business Development handed over the prizes to the top three teams.

This initiative is part of Malakoff’s continuous engagement with its key stakeholders through activities that can further cultivate the spirit of silaturrahim while simultaneously enhancing our working relationship towards fulfilling shared goals and objectives. We would like to thank everyone involved for the camaraderie and a great display of sportsmanship, and we hope to see you again in next year’s edition.
