Malakoff Organises Football and Netball Match with TNB

6 January 2023

As part of Malakoff Corporation Berhad (“Malakoff”)’s continuous engagement with its key stakeholders, a friendly Netball and Football match with Tenaga Nasional Berhad (“TNB”) was organised on 6th January 2023 at Padang Kilat TNB, Kuala Lumpur. The event garnered encouraging participation from both sides where a total of 60 players congregated to display their skills and talent on the field.

Aimed at enhancing the camaraderie between both organisations, this yearly affair serves as a platform for players to discover their hidden sports talent in an informal setting where they also had the opportunity to engage with each other and reinforce the spirit of ‘silaturrahim’. The event was also attended by TNB’s Head of Corporate Affairs Ir Mazliza Zahari, Head of Fleet Management who is also the Vice President of Kelab Kilat TNB Encik Mohammad Anas Ibrahim and Malakoff’s Senior Manager of Stakeholder Management, Encik Md Yuha bin Ismail. The event commenced with all players lining up to exchange goodie bags to signify the start of the friendly match.

The first kick-off for both games started at 6 p.m. where players were still seen warming up and trying to gauge their opponents’ strengths and weaknesses. Alas, it didn’t take long for Team Netball TNB to read and understand their opponents’ strategy when they scored multiple goals in the first half of the game, leaving Team Netball Malakoff with only one goal before the start of the second game. However, team Netball Malakoff bounced back in the second half with consecutive attacks making the game a lot more exhilarating with spectators cheering on the edge of their seats.

As for the football match, Team Football TNB was already seen taking the lead of the game with plenty of strikes thrown towards the defense area, simultaneously putting a lot of pressure on the goalkeeper during the first half of the game. Team Football Malakoff managed to counter the attacks and kept the score at 0-0 towards the half-time break. By the start of the second half, all players from both sides were scrambling to score a goal with more tactics and manoeuvres performed resulting in a well-fought match.

Although both games were equally contested and truly showed the competitive spirit in both sides, ultimately, Team Netball and Football TNB swept the winning titles with 3 to 1 (Football) and 20 to 7 (Netball). The event concluded with an early dinner where players got to replenish and rest while connecting with one another.

With engaging and fun activities such as this with its key stakeholders, Malakoff aims to further cultivate the spirit of ‘silaturrahim’ while simultaneously enhancing its working relationship towards fulfilling shared goals and objectives. We would like to thank everyone involved for the camaraderie and a great display of sportsmanship, and we hope to see you again in next year’s edition.
