Malakoff Organises Futsal Tournament with NRECC, ST and TNB Single Buyer & GSO

5 August 2023

On 5th August 2023, Malakoff Corporation Berhad (“Malakoff”) held its yearly futsal tournament with the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources ("NRECC"), the Energy Commission ("ST"), and Tenaga Nasional Berhad ("TNB") Single Buyer & Grid System Operator ("GSO") as part of its continuous engagement to further enhance good working relationship with its stakeholders. The event was held at the FutsalHub in Ampang, Kuala Lumpur and was attended by 80 participants.

Commenced at approximately 9:30 am, the futsal court was seen swarmed with participants stretching and doing warm-ups way before gun time where the teams also took this opportunity to strategise on their game plan. Just when the spectator seats were starting to fill up, both women’s and men’s games took off with enthused energy coupled with a streak of strikes performed by all participating teams. Not long before the first round between Malakoff’s men’s team and the ST team ended, two inaugural goals were scored by Malakoff giving them a starting lead of 2-0, while the vigorous efforts from the women’s team were squandered when ST hit the first goal. Alas, with the deafening cheers and support from the crowd, the women’s team rose by strengthening their defense, disallowing any potential strike from the opposing team.

After two full hours of incredible teamwork and excitement, the games finally concluded with the men’s team from Malakoff taking the reign in this tournament as they emerged as champion with the highest score against the teams from GSO, TNB Single Buyer, ST and the NRECC. As for the women’s game, the ST team claimed victory while the Malakoff team finished second, but the dedication and commitment displayed by the team was nothing short of amazing. Congratulations to both men’s and women’s teams from Malakoff.

The event then proceeded with a prize giving ceremony by the Assistant Vice President of the Local Generation Division Puan Norafinaz Khairuddin and Senior Manager of Corporate Affairs Encik Md Yuha Ismail.

This initiative is part of Malakoff’s continuous engagement with its key stakeholders through activities that can further cultivate the spirit of ‘silaturrahim’ while enhancing our working relationship towards fulfilling shared goals and objectives. It is also in line with our commitment towards the UN Sustainable Development Goal No. 17 that encourages stronger partnerships that will contribute to environmental protection and sustainable development.

We would like to thank everyone involved for the camaraderie and great display of sportsmanship, and we hope to see you again next time.
