Malakoff Supports Anti-Drug Programme in Mukim Serkat

On 22 December 2019, Malakoff Corporation Berhad (Malakoff) collaborated with Agensi Anti Dadah Kebangsaan (AADK) Pontian and Majlis Tindakan Membanteras Dadah (MTMD) Pontian to organise an anti-drug programme called “Komuniti Sejahtera Tanpa Dadah” which took place at Komplek Penghulu Mukim Serkat.



The programme was also participated by Polis Diraja Malaysia (PDRM) Pontian and Jabatan Penjara Malaysia with the aim to create awareness and educate the community on the dangers of substance abuse and preventative steps that can be taken before getting caught in the snare of addiction.




The community-oriented programme that attracted more than 300 participants comprising Malakoff employees and the local community of Mukim Serkat, commenced with a “Senamrobik” that served as a warm-up drill to all participants before proceeding with the “Anti Drug Fun Run” that was flagged off at 9 a.m.




Children who were too young to participate in the run were kept occupied with a colouring contest that hone their creativity.


Then, the participants were all ears during the Anti Drug Community Forum which discussed on the types drugs used by addicts, how to fight drug addiction and how the community should work together to rehabilitate reformed drug addicts.



In his closing speech, Pontian District Officer, Tuan Haji Zulkifly Bin Haji Mohd Tahir, stressed on how a community event such as this would further plant a sense of responsibility within the youth and consequently refrains them making decisions that would jeopardise the integrity of the community.


He also expressed his gratitude to Malakoff for bringing the community together through a good cause such as this.
