15 May 2015, Kuala Lumpur - Malakoff Corporation Berhad (Malakoff) won the “Competitive Glocal Employer Award 2015” organized by Social Security Organization (PERKESO) and Ministry of Human Resource at the National Labour Day 2015 celebration held at Borneo Convention Centre, Kuching, Sarawak, on 1 May 2015. The award was presented by the Prime Minister of Malaysia, Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak.
The award was given to a “glocal” employer that is productive, caring and responsive to the working environment here and abroad and subsequently boosts Malaysia’s image internationally.
Speaking on the award, Chief Executive Officer of Malakoff, Dato’ Sri Syed Faisal Albar said, “Malakoff is honoured to receive this award that recognizes our efforts to be a world-class employer committed to provide a healthy working environment through various employee engagement activities and programmes.”
On workplace development, Malakoff’s HR programmes are aimed at developing, achieving and sustaining a culture of effective and satisfying ways to work together. These programmes include team dynamics, performance and feedback processes, leadership, effective compensation strategies as well as talent attraction and retention. In addition, Malakoff also organizes other employee activities such as sporting, festive, leisure, family, spiritual and living skills events so that its employees achieve a work-life-balance.
These initiatives also resulted in Malakoff being awarded the “Best Employer to Work for in Asia 2013” from the HR Asia.
As an extension to the workplace, Malakoff’s award-winning CSR initiatives are also highly engaging. Over the years, Malakoff’s mangrove conservation, coral rehabilitation and other habitat preservation activities also received many national and regional awards from both non-governmental and governmental agencies. The most notable and recent award is the prestigious Anugerah Langkawi 2014 conferred by Yang Dipertuan Agong of Malaysia on 21 October 2014. Previously, Malakoff is also the recipient of the CSR of the Year Award 2013 from the Malaysian Institute of Management and the PM’s CSR Award (Environment) in 2010.
“The various activities carried out by Malakoff do not only benefit the Company, but also bring the workforce together as it creates a sense of belonging and camaraderie amongst staff through their involvement in such activities, concluded Syed Faisal.
Also present at the ceremony were Chief Minister of Sarawak, YAB Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Haji Adenan Bin Haji Satem and Minister of Human Resources, Yang Berhormat Dato' Sri Richard Riot Anak Jaem.
