Kuala Lumpur, 4 June 2015 – The boiler of Malakoff Corporation Berhad’s (“Malakoff”) 1,000 megawatt (“MW”) Tanjung Bin Energy (“T4”) coal-fired power plant was successfully ignited using fuel oil on 31 May 2015. This important milestone achieved signifies that the completion of T4’s construction is on track.

“The fuel-firing of the boiler on 31 May 2015 is a major step towards the timely completion of the power plant. It will pave the way for the next equally important milestones, such as the boiler’s coal-firing and thereafter the power plant’s synchronisation to the national power grid,” said Habib Husin, Chief Operating Officer of Malakoff.

T4 is expected to achieve its Commercial Operations Date of 1 March 2016.
