On 24 June 2021, Malakoff Corporation Berhad (“Malakoff”) contributed RM12,904.00 to the Media Prima Humanitarian Fund for Palestine through a donation drive that was carried out among its staff. The fund was set up by the Media Prima Group as a means of financial support towards the humanitarian mission in Palestine. The donation handover was held at Balai Berita, Bangsar and attended by the Chairman of Media Prima, Datuk (Dr.) Syed Hussian bin Aljunid, Malakoff’s Senior Vice President of the Local Generation Division, Encik Mohammed Azmil Bin Ismail and the Group Editor of Harian Metro, Encik Husain Jahit with strict adherence to the Covid-19 Standard Operating Procedures (“SOPs”).
The donation drive was a proactive approach by Malakoff to cultivate the culture of giving and empathy among its employees towards the Palestinians whose homes and land were raided and ruined due to the on-going oppression from Israel.
The Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of Malakoff, Encik Anwar Syahrin Abdul Ajib said that the donation serves as part of the company’s Corporate Social Responsibility (“CSR”) efforts.
“We fully support the objective of this fund and truly hope the donation will ease the burden of the Palestinians who are still fighting for the recognition of their land. They stood their ground to protect Al-Aqsa with their lives, while we can only watch from afar with our prayers, hoping the conflict would end soon”.
Meanwhile, Datuk (Dr.) Syed Hussian bin Aljunid had expressed his gratitude towards Malakoff for driving this initiative in show of support for not only the humanitarian efforts in this country, but also towards the suppressed people of Palestine.
All donation towards the Media Prima Humanitarian Fund for Palestine will be funnelled to MERCY Malaysia and the Malaysian Relief Agency whose volunteers and representatives are already in Palestine.
Malakoff’s CSR activities continue to be a cornerstone of its foundation for sustainable development, as we work closely with our stakeholders to ensure the well-being of those in need are taken care of.
