    Sharing important news and updates for you and the community Back Malakoff Donates RM300,000 To Tabung Wira Lahad Datu Media Prima 24 March 2013 Malakoff Corporation Berhad (Malakoff) contributed RM300,000 to the Tabung Wira Lahad Datu by Media Prima, in honour of the bravery and sacrifice of Malaysia’s police and armed forces personnel in defending the sovereignty of Malaysia. Malakoff’s Chief Executive Officer, Zainal Abidin Jalil, met YBhg. Datuk Ahmad A. Talib, Executive Director, News & Editorial Operations, Media Prima Berhad at Sri Pentas today to hand over Malakoff’s contribution to the fund. “We are deeply saddened by the recent events in Lahad Datu and the tragic loss of lives of our servicemen. As a son of a policeman, I can personally share the grief and anxiety of the families of our servicemen,” said Zainal. “Malakoff would like to express our deepest condolences to the families that have lost their husbands and fathers in the service of our country. We also hope that the community currently affected by the ongoing conflict remains strong at these times and we pray that the standoff will end soon. We hope that this contribution will help in a small way to alleviate some of the burden experienced by our injured servicemen and the families of our fallen heroes. We recognize that it cannot replace our deepest gratitude for their ultimate sacrifice to keep the nation safe and secure” he said.

    Sharing important news and updates for you and the community Back Malakoff Recognises as Sahabat Koporat Tabung Haji 144H/2023M 2 October 2023 On 2 October 2023, Malakoff Corporation Berhad (“Malakoff”) received a recognition award for being one of the Sahabat Korporat TH Musim 1444H/2023M organised by Lembaga Tabung Haji (TH) at Dewan Besar, Menara TH Tun Razak. Malakoff donated RM 100,000 in efforts to ensure the welfare of this season’s Hajj pilgrims from Malaysia were adequately taken care of where their basic needs and concerns were swiftly addressed. The recognition ceremony that was also doubled as a majlis kesyukuran was officiated by the Minister of Religious Affairs from the Prime Minister’s Department YB Senator Dato’ Setia Dr. Haji Mohd Na’im bin Haji Mokhtar and attended by the Chairman of TH Yang Berbahagia Tan Sri Azman bin Haji Mokhtar and Group Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of TH Yang Berusaha Tuan Syed Hamadah bin Syed Othman. The recognition award was received by Senior Manager of Malakoff’s Group Communications and Branding Encik Md Yuha bin Ismail. Malakoff is one of 29 strategic partners of TH’s Sahabat Korporat Programme for the 1444H/2023M season. In total, TH received donations up to RM 3.3 million from all 29 partners for the ease of the Malaysian Hajj pilgrims’ journey.

    Sharing important news and updates for you and the community Back Malakoff Powerman Asian Championships 2013 Returns Bigger And Greener 29 August 2013 Asia’s Largest Duathlon Event Powers Up For Record 2,500 Duathletes 30 August 2013 - Malakoff Powerman Asian Championships 2013 was jointly launched today with Malaysia Environment Week (MASM), organized by the Department of Environment (DOE) at The Everly Hotel, Putrajaya. The Malakoff Powerman Asian Championships 2013 will be the anchor event at the closing ceremony of MASM, that will be held on 27 October 2013, the event date of Powerman. MASM will be a week-long event organized by DOE from 21-17 October 2013. DOE supports Powerman which aims to promote a carbon-neutral lifestyle amongst Malaysians such as running and cycling. Approximately 2,500 professional and amateur duathletes are expected to compete on 27 October in Putrajaya, be it for cash prizes worth RM122,400 and the coveted qualifying spots in the World Championships in Switzerland, or for the sheer thrill of finishing the biggest duathlon event in Asia. Speaking at the launch, Zainal Abidin Jalil, the Chief Executive Officer of Malakoff said, “As Asia’s largest duathlon challenge, the Malakoff Powerman Asian Championships is an event that attracts duathletes from across the continent eager to compete in this prestigious tournament with its global status. Malakoff is very pleased to host the Championships which has successfully positioned Malaysia as a hub for international duathlons.” “This year, we are pleased to collaborate with the Department of Environment for the Championships. Given the event’s growing influence, we are confident that it will be able to inspire more Malaysians to run and cycle regularly thereby helping reduce carbon emission in the country,” he added. Registration for the 12th edition of the Powerman Championships is currently open until 9 September 2013. Avid duathletes can participate in the Elite or Individual Categories comprising 11.4km Run – 64km Bike – 11.4km Run challenge. Racers interested to compete in the same distance together with family and friends as a team can register for the Power Relay categories. Meanwhile, beginners can test their endurance and race half the aforementioned distance in the Sprint Categories. Present to officiate the Malaysia Environment Week alongside the Championships’ launch, Dato’ Halimah Hassan, Director-General, DOE said, “This event fosters running and cycling as an alternative means of commuting and we hope more Malaysians will adopt similar practices in their daily life. Not only are these activities healthy, they are also environmentally friendly as they do not produce harmful carbon emissions.” Sharing his excitement on the upcoming Powerman race which will mark the finale for the Malaysia Environment Week, he added, “There could not have been a better way to wrap-up the week-long Campaign by celebrating it on a high note with thousands of athletes and environmentalists right at Putrajaya,” he added. Over the years, the Powerman Asian Championships has established itself as a leading sporting event in Asia. The event has successfully attracted a record of close to 1,860 participants from over 30 countries in the prestigious endurance challenge last year which was an eight-fold increase from its inaugural event held in 2002. Formerly known as Powerman Malaysia, the event was upgraded in 2012 by the International Powerman Association (IPA) to Malakoff Powerman Asian Duathlon Championships, in recognition of the success the event has enjoyed over the decade.     Sharing important news and updates for you and the community Back Malakoff Appoints New CEO 2 June 2011 Malakoff Corporation Berhad (MALAKOFF), Malaysia’s largest independent power producer has appointed Zainal Abidin Jalil, 52, as its Chief Executive Officer, effective March 15, 2011. Having spent over 28 years with ExxonMobil, in significant leadership positions across North America, West Africa and the Asia Pacific regions, Zainal brings with him international experience and expertise in strategic planning, new business development, operations, capital project engineering and talent management. His leadership experience in the high-technology capital-intensive industry will support Malakoff’s aspiration to become a leading power industry player in the region. The appointment marks a return to Malaysia for Zainal, who was based in Houston, Texas, United States as the Global Lead for the deployment of joint venture best practices for the international petroleum company’s global operations. Prior to this functional assignment in the ExxonMobil Headquarters, Zainal was the Vice-President, Esso Exploration Angola and the General Manager of Operations for ExxonMobil Malaysia. “As a Malaysian who was based overseas, I am excited to be home after having worked abroad for many years. The power sector is a dynamic industry and it demands both the business acumen and technical expertise to be a successful operator of scale,” commented Zainal. “I am keen to bring global best practices in execution excellence and operating discipline to capture sustainable value from the power projects, both new and existing assets. Our focus is on profitable growth with a strong global presence.” Zainal holds a Bachelor of Engineering in Civil Engineering from the University of Queensland, Australia.

    Back Adi Faimi Mohamed Haneef Head, Risk, Process Improvement & Integrity Department Adi Faimi Mohamed Haneef, a Malaysian, holds a Bachelor of Applied Science (Hons.) with Major in Entomology and Minor in Management from Universiti Sains Malaysia. He joined Malakoff as the Head of Group Corporate Health, Safety, Security & Environment ("HSSE") in 2015. He was later reassigned as the Head of Business Process Improvement ("BPI") in 2018. Currently, he serves as the Head of the Risk, Process Improvement & Integrity Department. He started his career as a Technical Executive at Toyochem Corporation Berhad in 2000 where he spent five years in the packaging coating industry. Then, he switched his career to the oil and gas sector by joining Orogenic Resources Sdn. Bhd., in which he focused on downstream integrated services. He left Orogenic Resources Sdn. Bhd. to pursue a new career with Malaysian International Shipping Corporation Berhad ("MISC") as the QHSSE Manager in 2010. During his tenure at MISC, he spent close to two years managing Floating Production Storage and Offloading ("FPSO") of Repair, Life Extension and Conversion ("RLEC") and Engineering, Procurement, Construction, Installation and Commissioning ("EPCIC") projects at Malaysia Marine Heavy Engineering ("MMHE"), specialising in QHSSE and Risk projects. Prior to joining Malakoff, he was the Head of Group HSSE at Chemical Company of Malaysia ("CCM") from 2012 till 2015. Amongst his certifications are Safety and Health Officer Certificate from National Institute of Safety & Health ("NIOSH"), Professional Business Continuity Management Certificate from Disaster Recovery Institute International ("DRII"), ISO31000 Risk Manager Certificate from Professional Evaluation and Certification Body ("PECB"), Certified Sustainability Practitioner ("CSP") from Institute of Certified Sustainability Practitioner, Certified Lean Six Sigma Black Belt and Integrated ISO Lead Assessor from SIRIM.

    Sharing important news and updates for you and the community Back Malakoff Open Houses Strengthen Relationships with Staff and Stakeholders 25 June 2018 Between 26 June 2018 to 5 June 2018, Malakoff Corporation Berhad (Malakoff) hosted a series of Hari Raya Open House celebrations at its four site offices in Pontian (Johor), Lumut (Perak), Prai (Penang) and Port Dickson (Negeri Sembilan). The open houses were part of the engagement activities for the staff and their families, held in conjunction with the Hari Raya celebrations. Stakeholders from the local authorities, council and communities were also invited to join the celebrations. The event provided a good opportunity to reconnect with families and key stakeholders in a relaxed environment while enjoying the modest but delicious food. Approximately a total of 2,000 people attended the open houses at Tanjung Bin (Johor), Lumut (Perak), Prai (Penang) and Port Dickson (Negeri Sembilan). 90 under privileged children from nearby orphanages were invited as guests of honours at Lumut, Prai and Port Dickson, and were presented with goodie bags and duit raya. A wide variety of dishes including the local specialties was served to the guests, such as roast lamb, satay, apam balik, lemang, rendang, laksa, burasak, char kuey tiaw and a variety of cakes and kuih. Everyone looked exceptionally festive and came cladded in traditional Malay attire, with families dressed in similar colour schemes which added colour to the Hari Raya open houses. Speaking at Prai Power Plant’s Hari Raya do, its Plant Manager, Ir. Mohd Razif Embi said, “The get-together allowed staff and their families to mingle and get to know each other better as well as strengthen the bonding further.” He added that such event also provided a good opportunity to improve further our ties with the local community and authorities.
