    Sharing important news and updates for you and the community Back Malakoff Organises Friendly Bowling Tournament with NRECC 27 October 2023 On 27 October 2023, Malakoff Corporation Berhad (“Malakoff”) held its annual friendly bowling tournament with the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources ("NRECC") at Wangsa Bowl, IOI City Mall in Putrajaya. Aimed at promoting ‘silaturrahim’ between Malakoff and its stakeholders, the event saw the attendance of the Deputy Secretary General of NRECC Yang Berbahagia (“YBhg.”) Dato’ Mohamad Razif bin Haji Abd Mubin and Malakoff’s Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer (“MD/CEO”) Encik Anwar Syahrin bin Abdul Ajib. All 60 participants from both companies gathered in the bowling arena to mingle before the tournament kicked-off. YBhg. Dato’ Mohamad Razif proceeded to make the first throw, signifying the start of this highly anticipated tournament. Following a two-round structure, participants seemed very enthusiastic in showcasing their competitive spirit by constantly gauging their opponents’ scores and strengths, even in the first round. As momentum was building up, the excitement overspilled into the second round where loud cheers and encouragement could be heard by not only the participants, but also the spectators. After two hours of friendly competition, Group 9 comprising Dr. Amran Alias and Dr. Mohamad Hamzi Abdul Azziz from NRECC and, Mazuin Ima Salamat and Muhamad Sharfiz Shafie from Malakoff, emerged as champion for the Group category while Muhamad Sharfiz Shafie and Mazuin Ima Salamat were announced as the winner for the Men and Women category respectively. Subsequently, the event continued with a prize giving ceremony by YBhg. Dato’ Mohamad Razif and Encik Anwar Syahrin to all winners followed by a photo session. This initiative is a part of Malakoff's ongoing engagement with its major stakeholders through initiatives that can strengthen our partnership and further the spirit of ‘silaturrahim’ as we work to achieve our common goals and objectives. Additionally, it corresponds with our commitment to UN Sustainable Development Goal No. 17, which encourages stronger partnerships to support sustainable development and environmental protection.     Sharing important news and updates for you and the community Back Majlis Penyerahan Sumbangan Wakalah Zakat Malakoff Dun Kukup 3 July 2015 PONTIAN - Seramai 344 golongan asnaf fakir dan miskin telah menerima sumbangan wakalah zakat dari pihak Malakoff sempena Majlis Penyampaian Sumbangan Asnaf, Anak Yatim dan Berbuka Puasa peringkat Dewan Undangan Negeri (DUN) Kukup pada 4 Julai yang lepas. Majlis anjuran ADUN Kukup, YB Hj Suhaimi Salleh telah berlangsung di perkarangan Masjid Jamek Sg Bunyi, Pontian yang mendapat kerjasama Majlis Agama Islam Johor, Malakoff Corporation Berhad dan Jabatan Kebajikan Masyarakat turut dihadiri oleh wakil pegawai kerajaan Johor di Pontian serta Penghulu-Penghulu Mukim. Program ilmiah seperti tadarus dan khatam Al –Quran menjadi pembuka majlis yang bermula tepat jam 2 petang dan diteruskan dengan tazkirah agama oleh Tuan Hj Md Rofiki bin Dato’ Hj A Shamsudin, qadi dari Daerah Pontian. Setelah selesai solat asar YB Hj Suhaimi menyampaikan wakalah zakat kepada semua penerima sumbangan dan semua jemputan kemudiannya berbuka puasa bersama-sama dan mendirikan solat Maghrib, Isya’ serta tarawih secara berjemaah. Ini merupakan julung kali Malakoff membuat sumbangan melalui wakalah zakat yang diterima melalui Pusat Pungutan Zakat Wilayah Persekutuan. Semoga sumbangan ini dapat meringankan beban golongan yang memerlukan serta mengimarahkan lagi amalan sedekah pada bulan Ramadhan yang mulia ini. Majlis ini juga diharap dapat mengeratkan lagi hubungan rapat yang sedia terjalin di antara Malakoff dan wakil Kerajaan serta penduduk kawasan DUN Kukup.

    Sharing important news and updates for you and the community Back MESTECC Remains Defending Champion at Football Friendly Match with Malakoff 31 October 2019 On 1 November 2019, Malakoff Corporation Berhad (Malakoff) held its annual friendly football match with the Ministry of Energy, Science, Technology, Environment and Climate Change (MESTECC) at Padang Bola Sepak, Institut Semarak Felda (ISEF), Bangi. The night saw an encouraging participation by both sides with a total of 40 players in attendance, in addition with a team of supporters to cheer for both teams throughout the night. Organised by Malakoff, the event’s objective was to strengthen the bond between Malakoff and MESTECC at the working level. The game kicked off at 8:30pm where both teams were seen fired up and immediately struck an attack towards one another in the pitch in hope to score the first goal, but to no avail. The first half ended with a 0-0 draw. After a much-needed rest and recharge, the second half commenced with numerous exchanges of dribbles from both sides. Zubir Alif bin Zainon of MESTECC finally succeeded in scoring the opening goal, much to the excitement of the supporters and added a more intense atmosphere on the field. The match then turned from intense to a nail-biting suspense when Team Malakoff became more desperate to find an equalizer goal. Attacks after attacks were thrown towards the defending line of MESTECC but ultimately, a second and winning goal was made by Hazaide bin Zainudin from MESTECC thus, making them the defending champion once again. With the final result of 2-0, MESTECC officially won the match and took home the challenge trophy. Good job to all for putting up a display of sportsmanship and congratulations to MESTECC for winning the match!

  • Malakoff Holds Friendly Bowling Tournament with Johor State Authorities

    Sharing important news and updates for you and the community Back Malakoff Holds Friendly Bowling Tournament with Johor State Authorities 4 November 2022 On 4th November 2022, Malakoff Corporation Berhad (“Malakoff”) had organised a friendly bowling tournament with Badan Kawalselia Air Negeri Johor (“BAKAJ”), Department of Environment (“DOE”) Johor and Department of Occupational Safety & Health (“DOSH”) at Pelangi Leisure Mall in Johor. The event was part Malakoff’s continuous engagement with the local authorities to further enhance its working relationship. The event was attended by 80 participants and officiated by Tanjung Bin Power Plant (“TBPP”) Manager, Encik Kopli bin Yunus. All participants were divided into groups and were assigned with their respective lanes. Upon making the first throw which indicated the start of the tournament, participants’ boosted spirit and morale were already evidently visible with cheers and chants being thrown from various teams in show of support to their own team members. As the first round is usually considered as the warm-up round, many teams were later seen gathering thoughts and strategies before heading into the second round. Suggestions and advice from the more experienced participants were shared among team members to ensure higher points would be collected and reflected on the score screen. After a gruelling 2-round tournament with plenty of surprises and anticipation, Team 9, consisting of Ku Fitrie, Shukril, Amir & Shafei from DOE Johor emerged victorious with 966 points collected. This was followed by Team 5 (BAKAJ team) and Team 3 (DOSH team) with 927 and 917 points collected respectively. For the individual categories, Humairah Mahpoz from Malakoff rose as the Female champion with 254 points while Muhammad Nur Iqbal bin Khalid from Malakoff took the crown as the Male champion with 404 points. With engaging and fun activities such as this with its key stakeholders, Malakoff aims to further cultivate the spirit of ‘silaturrahim’ while simultaneously enhancing its working relationship towards fulfilling shared goals and objectives. We would like to thank everyone involved for the camaraderie and a great display of sportsmanship, and we hope to see you again in next year’s edition.

    Sharing important news and updates for you and the community Back Malakoff and the Energy Commission Compete for the 2022 Football Challenge Trophy 16 June 2022 As part of Malakoff Corporation Berhad’s (“Malakoff”) continuous engagement with its key stakeholders, the Group organised a friendly football match with the Energy Commission (“ST”) on 17 June 2022 at the Majlis Perbandaran Sepang football field in Cyberjaya, Selangor. After a two-year hiatus due to the Covid-19 pandemic, teams from both sides were eager to meet again on the pitch in this traditional event that brought together top players from the respective sides. Both teams were vying for the coveted Challenge Trophy which was last won by Malakoff in 2019. The players entered the field and took their position before the referee blew the whistle at sharp 8:30 PM, with both sides getting off to a great start with concerted attempts at both sides of the pitch. Despite the heavy downpour, the players put up a spirited display in what turned out to be an entertaining match, cheered on by supporters from both sides. ST's Muhammad Nazrin Afifi drew first blood by putting the ball at the back of the net to give ST the lead in the first half. The second half began with an offensive game from both teams after a much-needed respite. The teams played a more heated game in the second half, with Malakoff making several attempts to score to level the game. However, luck was not on our side as the ST team held on to their lead. After a closely fought match, ST’s lone goal proved the difference as ST emerged as the champions and took home the Challenge Trophy for this year. The event helped to foster camaraderie between Malakoff and ST while enhancing the working relationship between both parties. It was a great opportunity for both sides to display their sportsmanship while competing for the trophy. Everyone present thoroughly enjoyed the match and the spectators were certainly treated to an entertaining showdown between both sides. Congratulations to ST and kudos to Malakoff for the excellent game!

  • Adi Faimi Mohamed Haneef

    Back Adi Faimi Mohamed Haneef Head, Risk, Process Improvement & Integrity Department Adi Faimi Mohamed Haneef, a Malaysian, holds a Bachelor of Applied Science (Hons.) with Major in Entomology and Minor in Management from Universiti Sains Malaysia. He joined Malakoff as the Head of Group Corporate Health, Safety, Security & Environment ("HSSE") in 2015. He was later reassigned as the Head of Business Process Improvement ("BPI") in 2018. Currently, he serves as the Head of the Risk, Process Improvement & Integrity Department. He started his career as a Technical Executive at Toyochem Corporation Berhad in 2000 where he spent five years in the packaging coating industry. Then, he switched his career to the oil and gas sector by joining Orogenic Resources Sdn. Bhd., in which he focused on downstream integrated services. He left Orogenic Resources Sdn. Bhd. to pursue a new career with Malaysian International Shipping Corporation Berhad ("MISC") as the QHSSE Manager in 2010. During his tenure at MISC, he spent close to two years managing Floating Production Storage and Offloading ("FPSO") of Repair, Life Extension and Conversion ("RLEC") and Engineering, Procurement, Construction, Installation and Commissioning ("EPCIC") projects at Malaysia Marine Heavy Engineering ("MMHE"), specialising in QHSSE and Risk projects. Prior to joining Malakoff, he was the Head of Group HSSE at Chemical Company of Malaysia ("CCM") from 2012 till 2015. Amongst his certifications are Safety and Health Officer Certificate from National Institute of Safety & Health ("NIOSH"), Professional Business Continuity Management Certificate from Disaster Recovery Institute International ("DRII"), ISO31000 Risk Manager Certificate from Professional Evaluation and Certification Body ("PECB"), Certified Sustainability Practitioner ("CSP") from Institute of Certified Sustainability Practitioner, Certified Lean Six Sigma Black Belt and Integrated ISO Lead Assessor from SIRIM.

    Sharing important news and updates for you and the community Back Malakoff Working Arrangement During Control Movement Order 16 March 2020 Malakoff Working Arrangement During Control Movement Order In line with the Government’s directive to enforce a Control Movement Order nationwide as announced by the Prime Minister yesterday, Malakoff Corporation Berhad (“Malakoff”) has decided to implement a Work from Home (“WFH”) arrangement to be effective from 18 March (Wednesday) until 31 March 2020 (Tuesday) to all Malakoff KLHQ staff at Plaza Sentral, Kuala Lumpur. However, this arrangement excludes all our domestic plants (Tanjung Bin Power Plant, Tanjung Bin Energy Power Plant, Lumut Power Plant & Prai Power Plant) and Malakoff Utilities Sdn Bhd (“MUSB”) personnel as they fall under “essential services” and are required to continue operating as normal during this 14-day Control Movement Order. MUSB will operate as normal at Plaza Sentral with the following changes: Customer Service Office will be closed to customers and third parties, but all CSAs will be present in office to attend to customer queries. Payments will be done online, or via cheque drop-in box. Applications for electricity can be done through email (or customers can drop in their applications in our drop-in box). Billing and CC activities go on as normal, except for temporary suspension of disconnection activities Malakoff will continue to monitor the situation and we’ll update all our stakeholders accordingly.     Sharing important news and updates for you and the community Back Making Safety Fun – Tanjung Bin’s HSSE Day Cultivates Teamwork, Healthy Lifestyle & Work Safety Awareness 10 November 2018 Malakoff’s Tanjung Bin Complex held its HSSE Day celebration on 11 and 12 November 2018 at Tanjung Bin Power Plant, Pontian, Johor. The event, which carried the theme “Healthy Workplace and Lifestyle” was aimed to promote safety practices at the work place. In his opening speech, Plant Manager of Tanjung Bin Power Plant (TBPP), En. Mohd Kopli Yunus emphasised on the importance of complying with the safety guidelines imposed on every staff and reminded them to prioritise health and safety above all else. “We want to ensure that safety is not only practiced at the work place, but it becomes part and parcel of their daily lives,” explained En. Mohd Kopli. Aligned with HSSE’s theme for this year, the list of activities organised is largely aimed to nurture a healthy work-life balance among the staff such as fun ride, fishing competition, housekeeping and e-games besides the exhibition booths set up in the vicinity of the Complex. This year, the event was spread across two days as the number of activities had been increased since the previous year due to the overwhelming support from the participants, comprised of not only Malakoff staff, but also the local community. Day 1 on the HSSE Day celebration started off with the Tanjung Bin Complex HSSE Fun Ride, aimed at promoting a healthy lifestyle, was flagged off by En. Mohd Kopli. The ride was opened to all and attracted a total of 170 cyclists from Tanjung Bin and the local cycling teams namely Tayomox Fatbike, Pontian Cycling Team, UCT, Kobra MTB, Flex Riders, OJCT, KTB, Geng Jawa Ranger and Team S3 Cycling. A participant from Pontian Cycling Team, Mohd. Hisyam, applauded this initiative. He admitted that his team joined the event because it was organised by Malakoff and was one of the most anticipated cycling events of the year. “This is also a great platform for outsiders like us to connect with the people from Tanjung Bin as the latter played a significant role in our community.” In the meantime, a fishing competition was held at the Lafarge Jetty with 80 participants consisting of staff across TBPP and Tanjung Bin Energy Power Plant (TBEPP). Known as a sport that requires great patience and determination, even the hot scorching sun could not hamper the participants’ spirit to win a great catch. First place was won by Nakiudin with a 1.39 kg catch, followed by Azizul and Shafif in second and third places respectively with a 1.05 kg and a 0.75 kg catch. Day 2 had an energising start with an hour of aerobics and Zumba dance led by trainers from Smart Gym Pontian to keep the TBPP and TBEPP staff’s adrenaline going for the day’s planned activities. Later, everyone proceeded to its highlight of the day - a housekeeping activity in a bid to foster a work culture that is clean, healthy and conducive, and to support the 5s Campaign (Sorting, Set in Order, Shine, Standardize, Sustain) that’s currently being implemented in Malakoff. Staff were tasked to collect and dispose rubbish and unwanted items found around the building’s vicinity and re-organise items in their working areas. The staff also had the opportunity to reminisce their younger days by enjoying a host of indoor games such as ‘batu seremban’, ‘congkak’ and e-Games inside the Admin building. Exhibition booths were also set up by in-house contractors such as Turcomp, Benteng Prestu, MCIE, JMLM, IPSM, MSAA and Boiler Master to create awareness on occupational health and safety issues at work and staff were able to participate in quizzes to test their knowledge on the subject. The day concluded with a prize-giving ceremony by Head, O&M and Commercial, Local Generation Division, Abdul Halim Adnan to all winners of the Tanjung Bin inter-plant sports competition which included badminton, futsal and football that were held prior to the event. Congratulations to TBEPP for being the overall inter-plant sports champion!
