Alhamdulillah, Malakoff Corporation Berhad (Malakoff) had the opportunity to bring additional cheer to the people of Kampung Segari, Perak and Mukim Serkat, Pontian, Johor through the donation of 4 cows for their Aidil Adha celebration.
Hari Raya Aidil Adha is known for its sacrificial slaughter of animals or ‘korban’ in honour of the willingness of Prophet Ibrahim to sacrifice his son as an act of obedience to Allah’s command.
The day’s celebration started with the congregation performing Solat Sunat Aidil Adha at Malakoff-sponsored Masjid Khairul Jariah, Kampung Segari and Masjid Al-Amin, Kampung Sungai Dinar, Mukim Serkat, followed by the sacrificial ritual. Then, groups from the local congregation gathered to help divide the meat in the spirit of gotong royong, and distributed bags of meat to the needy in their respective areas.
Prior to this, representatives from Malakoff handed over livestock to the respective masjids in preparation of the korban. Plant Manager of Lumut Power Plant, En Mohd Salehudin Abu Bakar and Plant Manager of Tanjung Bin Power Plant, En Mohd Kopli Yunus handed over the cows in simple ceremonies held in their respective local communities.
At Masjid Al-Amin, the handing over ceremony was also attended by YB Suhaizan Kayat, Johor State Assembly Speaker who accepted the cows on behalf of the Masjid.
In his speech, YB Suhaizan acknowledged Malakoff’s continuous contribution to the community in Mukim Serkat. “Masjid Al-Amin has become the focal point for the community here as a place of worship and where they can carry out community activities, thanks to Malakoff’s generosity and commitment. Undoubtedly, a community that prays together, stays together.”
