Sharing important news and updates for you and the community
It's always been about giving and sharing with love and generosity. Alhamdulillah for we were given more of such opportunities this month of Ramadhan.
Befitting our practice in years past, members of Malakoff’s Senior Management and staff continued its annual tradition of Iftar ('break of fast') with its various stakeholders.
In Kuala Lumpur, Malakoff KL HQ office welcomed orphans from Maahad Tarbiyah Islamiah Al-Ansar (Al-Ansar) for Iftar along with business associates, key personnel from local authorities and the media. Held at the iconic Islamic Arts Museum, both children and guests feasted on delectable Middle Eastern dishes prepared by top chefs from the Museum.
During the event, Malakoff’s Chairman, Tan Sri Abdul Halim Ali presented packets of duit raya to 51 orphans from Al-Ansar. Besides doing this small bit for the community, it was also a good opportunity to re-connect with our business associates and media friends in a relaxed environment, and enjoy the cozy ambience and delicious food, as part of our engagement initiatives with stakeholders.
Prai Power Plant was next as it feted business associates and treated 14 residents of Rumah Warga Emas Darul Hanan, Pongsu Seribu, Kepala Batas for Iftar in the presence of Malakoff’s Senior Management, staff and their families. Held at Sunway Hotel, Seberang Perai, Malakoff’s CEO, En Zainal Abidin Jalil and Prai Power Plant’s Station Manager, En Abdul Rahman Hussin, presented gifts of religious books, kuih raya, prayer mats and telekong for these special senior citizens comprising of men and women. These gifts were bought with contributions by Prai Power’s staff - again in the spirit of giving back to key stakeholders in the community where we operate.
The same spirit of generous giving was reflected when the staff of Lumut Power Plant refurbished and converted a company van was into a van jenazah for the benefit of ahli kariah Masjid Segari. During Iftar at Dewan Tan Sri Ramli Ngah Talib on Marina Island Pangkor over at Telok Muroh, Malakoff’s CEO, En Zainal and Lumut Power Plant’s Station Manager, En Abdul Halim Adnan presented the van to representatives from Masjid Segari.
With this simple offering, Malakoff hopes that the van will be utilized for the ease of the community at Segari, which is situated near our Lumut Power Plant.
Last but not least, the folks at our Tg Bin Power Plant were also carried out thoughtful, good deeds during this fasting month of Ramadhan. Orphans, old folks and single mothers from the neighbouring community in Mukim Serkat, Pontian, were invited to Iftar with Malakoff’s Senior Management and staff at the plant.
Tg Bin Power Plant’s Station Manager, Mr Chew Yee Chuan, together with Malakoff’s CEO, En Zainal as well as representatives from Hicom Power gladly presented packets of duit raya - contributed by staff of both Tg Bin Power Plant and Hicom Power - to these deserving members of the community, with the hope that it’ll lessen their burden in preparing for the upcoming Hari Raya Aidilfitri festivities.
En Zainal, a firm advocate of preserving the harmony between Malakoff and its stakeholders in communities where it operates, was very pleased with all the events carried out at KLHQ and sites. "I hope that these acts of kindness will continue and I humbly encourage all staff, together with their families, to participate and have fun as we get to know each other better and do our bit to assist those in need of a helping hand."
Kudos & well done to all the Organizing Committees and Staff at KLHQ and Sites for their commitment and blood, sweat and tears which went into making all these events in this holy month of Ramadhan such a success! Selamat Hari Raya. Maaf Zahir dan Batin.
