As part of its ongoing commitment to local communities, Malakoff Corporation Berhad ("Malakoff") organised a 'Karnival Sukan Rakyat' on both 19 November 2023 at Kompleks Penghulu Mukim Serkat in Pontian and 2 December 2023 at Sekolah Kebangsaan (“SK”) Segari in Lumut. The primary aim was to promote awareness about the importance of preserving traditional games or sports, nurturing inner leadership qualities among participants, and fostering camaraderie. The event saw active participation from local community leaders and communities, contributing to its success.

In Mukim Serkat, the event was also attended by ADUN Kukup Yang Berhormat Datuk Haji Jefridin Atan, Penghulu Kanan Pejabat Daerah Pontian Tuan Hj Roslan Bokari, Penghulu Kanan Daerah Pontian Tuan Mohd Norhazam Md Jais, and Malakoff’s Group Communications and Branding Senior Manager, En. Yuha Bin Ismail. While in Lumut, the event was attended by Plant Manager of Lumut Power Plant En. Anwar Faisal Mohamed Din, the Balai Polis Segari Head, SM Roslinda Haji Sidek, Headmaster of SK Segari En. Haris Hj Hussin and JKKK Chairman Encik Ismail Ibrahim.

All participants were treated to a breakfast buffet before taking part in some warm-up activities before the event began. They were then divided into male and female groups with prizes awaiting the top three winners of each activity. Various traditional sports were arranged for the event, including Tug-of-War, Sack Race, Musical Chairs, Water Chain, and several others. In Segari, informative booths focused on health check-ups and environmental awareness were also set up. After a fun-filled and wholesome morning, the event ended with a prize giving ceremony by the guest of honours at their respective seats.

This event is part of Malakoff’s Corporate Social Responsibility (“CSR”) initiatives, focusing on the Community pillar, which aligns with Malakoff’s tagline, Enhancing Life Enriching Communities. Besides enhancing a close working relationship with various stakeholders and the local communities, we hope that initiatives like these will further cultivate the spirit of ‘giving back to the community’ while fostering a stronger bond between one another.
