On 11 April 2015, YB Datuk Seri Panglima Dr. Maximus Johnity Ongkili, Minister of Energy, Green Technology and Water (KeTTHA) visited Tanjung Bin Power Plant (TBPP) and Tanjung Bin Energy (T4). He was accompanied by Datuk Loo Took Gee, Secretary General of KeTTHA, Datuk Ahmad Fauzi Hasan, Chief Executive Officer of Energy Commission (EC) and senior officers from KeTTHA and EC.

The delegation was hosted by Dato’ Sri Che Khalib Mohamad Noh, Group Managing Director of MMC Corporation Berhad and Dato’ Sri Syed Faisal Albar, Chief Executive Officer of Malakoff. The purpose of the visit was to view the operation of Tanjung Bin Power Plant and Tanjung Bin Energy (T4)’s construction progress.

The visit started with a short briefing session on the TBPP operation and T4 project. Later, the delegation visited T4 construction site to view the actual progress of the new power plant.

After the site tour, YB Minister commented that, “After observing T4’s construction activities and being briefed on the actual progress, I am positive that Malakoff’s 1,000 MW coal fired power plant’s progress is on track. I am also confident that the plant will be able to start its commercial operation in March 2016.”
