Upholding Standards for Bribery Prevention - Malakoff Has Been Officially Certified with ISO 37001:2016 ABMS by SIRIM

On 3 May 2021, Malakoff Corporation Berhad (“Malakoff”) was honoured with the certification of ISO37001:2016 Anti-Bribery Management System (“ABMS”) by SIRIM QAS International Sdn Bhd (“SIRIM”) for its commitment in upholding the highest standards of ethical conduct, integrity and accountability in all of its business activities and operations, which complies with the new Section 17A of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (“MACC”) Amendment Act 2018 (“the 2018 Act”), enforced by the Malaysian Government on 1 June 2020.


The handover ceremony was graced by the attendance of President and Group Chief Executive SIRIM YBhg Dato’ Dr Ahmad Sabirin Bin Arshad, Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of Malakoff Encik Anwar Bin Abdul Ajib, Senior General Manager from Management System Certification Department of Sirim, En. Mohd Hamim Iman Mustain and Chief Operating Officer of Malakoff, Mr. Clive Anthony Smith.


The Malakoff Group Anti-Bribery Policy was developed and approved by the Board of Directors on 3 October 2019, serving as a basis to establish, implement, maintain, review and improve an anti-bribery management system in the organization in line with the 2018 Act. Among the initiatives carried out to obtain the ISO37001:2016 ABMS certification were conducting awareness talks with MACC, conducting ABMS training and workshops for all Head of Departments, briefing to vendors on Malakoff Group Anti-Bribery Policy and conducting Risk & Integrity Day at KLHQ and power plants to provide a platform for engagement with all employees via briefings, Q&A sessions, and interactive contests.




Encik Anwar Syahrin Bin Abdul Ajib said, “With this certification, Malakoff has gone one step further in its continuous effort of combatting bribery. This is in line with the Group’s objective of achieving sustainable business growth as well as aligning the company with the national agenda in strengthening governance in the corporate sector. We shall continue to be fully supportive and committed towards preventing bribery and corruption within our activities, businesses, and operations.’’
