    Sharing important news and updates for you and the community Back Buka Puasa KLHQ 2008 10 September 2008 Satu majlis berbuka puasa telah diadakan di Muzium Kesenian Islam, bersebelahan Masjid Negara pada 5 September 2008. Majlis berbuka puasa ini diadakan bagi meraikan para tetamu yang terdiri daripada pekerja dan pasangan mereka serta ahli rakan niaga Malakoff Corporation Berhad bagi mengeratkan lagi silaturahim di antara mereka di bulan yang mulia ini. Majlis ini dianjurkan oleh Jabatan Hal Ehwal Korporat, Malakoff Corporation Berhad yang beribupejabat di Plaza Sentral, Kuala Lumpur. Majlis bermula dengan menyambut kedatangan tetamu-tetamu yang telah diundang sejak dua minggu yang lalu. Walaupun cuaca pada hari itu mendung dan hujan renyai, para tetamu tetap tidak mengecewakan penganjur dengan kesudian mereka untuk hadir ke majlis tersebut. Pengerusi Malakoff Corporation Berhad, Tan Sri Halim Ali turut hadir dengan lengkap berbaju melayu dan bersampin. Tepat jam 7.19 malam, azan berkumandang menandakan masuknya waktu Maghrib dan waktu berbuka puasa. Setelah menjamah kurma dan sedikit manisan, para tetamu bergegas untuk menunaikan solat Maghrib berjemaah di ruang yang telah disediakan oleh pihak Muzium sebelum menjamu selera dengan Nasi Saffron dan segala lauk-pauk yang tersedia di atas meja masing-masing. Setelah selesai makan malam, Tan Sri Halim Ali dengan sukacitanya menyampaikan derma bagi pihak Malakoff Corporation Berhad kepada 23 orang anak yatim dari Rumah Amal Belaian Kasih yang telah diundang khas ke majlis tersebut. Rumah Amal Belaian Kasih terletak di Ukay Perdana, Ampang. Sejurus masuknya waktu Isyak, para tetamu dijemput menunaikan solat Isyak berjemaah diikuti dengan solat sunat Terawih sebanyak 8 rakaat. Selesai menunaikan solat, tetamu dihidangkan dengan jamuan ringan beserta moreh. Majlis bersurai pada pukul 10 malam. Setinggi-tinggi terima kasih diucapkan kepada pihak pengurusan Malakoff Corporation Berhad di atas penganjuran majlis ini yang telah dijalankan setiap tahun sehingga kini. Semoga Allah menerima dan merahmati segala usaha dan ibadat kita pada bulan yang mulia ini, insya Allah.

    Sharing important news and updates for you and the community Back Malakoff Celebrates ‘Hari Alam Sekitar Negara 2023 Peringkat Kebangsaan’ 21 October 2023 On 21 October 2023, Malakoff Corporation Berhad (“Malakoff”) was honoured to be invited by the Department of Environment (“DOE”) to celebrate ‘Hari Alam Sekitar 2023 Peringkat Kebangsaan’, hosted by the Johor State Government. The event was held at Hutan Bandar MBIP in Johor Bahru and in conjunction with the National Environment Day that is celebrated every 21 October. Aimed at cultivating awareness on environmental conservation among Malaysians, the theme for this year’s National Environment Day celebration is “Alam Sekitar Tanggungjawab Bersama” where emphasis on collective efforts is put forth in ensuring the sustainability of our environment to subsequently prime a cleaner world for the younger generation. The event was graced by the presence of Permaisuri Johor Duli Yang Maha Mulia Raja Zarith Sofiah Binti Almarhum Sultan Idris Shah, and attended by the Minister of Natural Resources, Environment and Climate Change (“NRECC”) Yang Berhormat Nik Nazmi bin Nik Ahmad and Yang Amat Berhormat Menteri Besar of Johor Datuk Onn Ghazi. A variety of environmental related activities, as well as an exhibition were held to commemorate the occasion. The event was then inaugurated by Permaisuri Johor Duli Yang Maha Mulia Raja Zarith Sofiah Binti Almarhum Sultan Idris Shah through a reading of the National Environment Day proclamation before a video montage showcasing the celebration was displayed. All strategic partners from various industries were then honoured with an appreciation certificate to recognise their unwavering commitment towards preserving the environment simultaneously supporting the Government’s commitment to cut 45% of carbon intensity against Gross Domestic Product (GDP) by 2030 compared to the 2005 baseline. Malakoff has been a strategic partner to DOE since 2013 and this involvement is part of Malakoff’s continuous efforts in environmental preservation through establishing strategic partnerships to participate various activities that focus on creating a cleaner and greener environment. It is also in line with the UN Sustainable Development Goal No. 13 – Climate Action that aims to take urgent actions to tackle climate change and its impacts.

  • Malakoff, Concord Sign JDA on RE Projects

    Sharing important news and updates for you and the community Back Malakoff, Concord Sign JDA on RE Projects 6 September 2018 7 September 2018, Kuala Lumpur – Malakoff Corporation Bhd (“Malakoff”), a member of MMC Group, signed a Joint Development Agreement (“JDA”) with Concord Alliance Sdn Bhd (“Concord”) today to explore and develop biogas based power generation projects. The agreement was signed by Malakoff’s Chief Executive Officer, Dato’ Ahmad Fuaad Kenali while Concord was represented by its Executive Director, Datuk Khairuddin bin Tan Sri Mohd Hussin. Under the collaboration, both parties intend to collaborate with each other to jointly develop, operate and maintain renewable energy projects including biogas and biomass based power generation to be jointly identified by the parties. Both parties have agreed to conduct feasibility studies for the purpose of evaluating the viability of the projects for development. Commenting on the agreement, Dato’ Ahmad Fuaad said, “The collaboration is intended to harness the biogas generated from the Palm Oil Mill Effluent (“POME”) to generate electricity which, more importantly, will also avoid the release of the biogas generated by the POME into the atmosphere to preserve the environment.” “The biogas and biomass based power generation projects forms part of Malakoff’s strategy to expand the renewable energy (“RE”) segment and contribute towards meeting the Government’s target to increase Malaysia’s RE generation capacity to 20% by 2025. Concord has been chosen as our partner due to its capability and experience in the development, construction and operations & maintenance of biogas power generation projects,” he added. Malakoff currently owns a 50% interest in Macarthur Wind Farm in Victoria, Australia, with an effective generation capacity of 210MW. Earlier this year, Malakoff signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Touch Meccanica Sdn Bhd to collaborate in the development of several RE projects. Subsequently, Malakoff’s wholly-owned Teknik Janakuasa Sdn Bhd (“TJSB”) secured an Operation and Maintenance (“O&M”) contract with a large scale 29MWac solar photovoltaic power plant (“LSS”) in Kota Tinggi, Johor. Most recently, Malakoff entered into a Conditional Share Sale Agreement with HICOM Holdings Berhad to acquire 97.37% equity interest in Alam Flora Sdn Bhd to facilitate Malakoff’s expansion into environmental-related business such as the development of Waste-to-Energy (“WTE”) projects.

  • Datuk Ooi Teik Huat

    Back Datuk Ooi Teik Huat Non-Independent Non-Executive Director Datuk Ooi Teik Huat, a Malaysian, male, was appointed to the Board of the Company as a Non-Independent Non-Executive Director on 1 January 2012. He is the Chairman of Board Procurement Committee and also a member of the Board Audit Committee. Datuk Ooi obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics from Monash University, Melbourne, Australia in 1984 and is a Member of the Malaysian Institute of Accountants and CPA Australia. Datuk Ooi began his career with Messrs Hew & Co., Chartered Accountants in 1984. After leaving Messrs Hew & Co. in June 1989, he joined Malaysian International Merchant Bankers Berhad until August 1993. He joined Pengkalan Securities Sdn Bhd in August 1993 as Head of Corporate Finance, before leaving in September 1996 to set up Meridian Solutions Sdn Bhd where he is presently a director. Datuk Ooi also sits on the Boards of MMC Corporation Berhad, DRB-HICOM Berhad, Johor Port Berhad, Gas Malaysia Berhad and several private limited companies.
