Mohamad Lutfi Samsudin is the Head of the Technical (Special Projects) of Malakoff Corporation Berhad (Malakoff). He joined the company in March 2000 as a novice engineer in the Business Development Department and from then on, began gaining his technical and engineering experiences when he was assigned to be part of the operation and maintenance team in the Centralised Utilities Facility in Kerteh, Prai Power Plant and Lumut Power Plant. He then moved to the Engineering Department at the head office overseeing the operations of Malakoff’s generation assets, as well as providing services to external parties, until finally he became the Principal Engineer (Mechanical) for the company.
Since 2020, Lutfi has led a multidisciplinary team of subject matter experts, performance engineers and reliability engineers, providing technical support across divisions and conducting technical due diligence and other studies for external clients.
Lutfi holds a Doctor of Philosophy (Engineering) from Universiti Tenaga Nasional, Malaysia, and a Bachelor of Engineering (Hons) in Mechanical Engineering from Imperial College, London. He is a certified Malaysian DOSH Steam Engineer (Grade 1) and Registered Energy Manager (Type 1).
Beyond his corporate responsibilities, Lutfi contributes to the engineering community as an adjunct lecturer at several local universities and schools, sharing his aspiration and expertise in power generation industry with future engineers. His leadership and technical acumen continue to support Malakoff’s growth and operational excellence.
